Put the snake in a sack and close it tightly with string, making several knots. If you don’t have a sack, use a water container (without a hermetic seal) such as a large water bottle and make small holes for ventilation.
Put something warm in the box (a plastic water bottle or kitchen glove willed with hot water or a heated blanket placed under the box, for example). Heat the water every two hours.
HEDGEHOGS/BATS: Put them in a sturdy cardboard box with lots of small holes for ventilation and tape the box closed to prevent escape.
TRANSPORT: Always use an animal carrier or a metal cage to avoid the animals escaping during the journey. Secure the cage opening with wire. Cover it with a towel to keep it dark and avoid potential injury.
We recommend that you leave a kitchen towel or similar for the animal to hide in. If you are transporting a bat, fix it vertically so that the bat can hang from it.
Capture and care of animals
Do not put your personal safety at risk when capturing an animal.
Stay calm dand avoid sudden movements.
Assess the state of the ground. If it does not seem stable, try to lead the animal to safer ground.
Keep the animal in a quiet place, at the correct temperature and ensure it is not disturbed by people and/or pets.
