- CITES - Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora

CITES (the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora) regulates the trade in endangered species of wild fauna and flora through a worldwide network that monitors these species and the products that derive from them. The protection extends to live and dead animals and plants, their parts, derivatives and products that may contain them.

COFIB, through the Fundació Natura Parc, is officially authorised to operate as an official CITES centre in the Balearic Islands,, receiving specimens seized or confiscated by state security forces and bodies.

The main tasks carried out at the CITES Centre by COFIB staff are collection, management, maintenance, veterinary examination, analyses, preparation of certificates, reports and reports, etc., necessary for the holding and maintenance of CITES specimens.

COFIB comprises several departments, each with a specific function.
