During the month of October, Urban Reserves were created for the conservation of the Pitiusas lizard, Podarcis pityusensis, in a total of 7 parks and gardens in Ibiza and Formentera. This project is part of the Urban Greening Programmes of the European Biodiversity Strategy 2030.
Among the measures implemented, native plant species rich in flowers and fruits have been planted, artificial shelters have been installed and no-clearing areas have been limited. All these measures are accompanied by informative posters to raise awareness of the serious situation faced by the endemic lizard after the entry of invasive snakes. The disappearance of many of its populations is already a reality. If you also want to help the Pitiusas lizard, you can see our informative material where you will find many ideas on how to do it.
Can you help us protect it?
